“Ella’s Home” - spiritual Torah Center on the name
of the innocent Ella Abukasis, may she rest in peace
In the town of Sderot, Israel, bombed by Kassam rockets, Ella Abukasis fell heroically. With her body she sheltered her brother, may he live a long life, and saved his life on Saturday night, January 15, 2005, as she was returning from a meeting at the town branch of the Bnei Akiva youth movement.
On Friday, January 21, 2005, Ella’s soul left her body and went up to heaven. She was buried in the town of Sderot, surrounded by honorable people of the town and state personalities, thousands of men, women and children.
Ella was a twelfth grade student at the Zvia Azata Ulpana. She was both a trainee and a youth instructor at the Bnei Akiva Center in Sderot. She was modest and joyful. She was a real adolescent, always ready to help and donate for the benefit of all, sociable, attentive and admired by all her trainees and friends.

We hereby announce the establishment of the spiritual Torah Center in Sderot, which will bear the name of righteous Ella Abukasis. This center will accommodate

Ella’s fields of activity. It will contain:
A new Bnei Akiva center
A synagogue
A college
• A center for bringing people closer together
Around this spiritual center, a blooming garden will be planted, blooming like Ella.
The enterprise got the blessing of honorable Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Chief Rabbi of Israel, who visited the family house in Sderot and of other state personalities.
The ceremony of laying the cornerstone will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in front of the public library of Sderot.

Ella used to quote the words of Rabbi Shlomo Even Gvirol:
“Which man is most honored by the Creator?
“The one who thanks for the good and bears the evil.”

Her memory will remain for ever in the hearts of the people of Israel.
